My current telescope is a Meade ETX90EC. See link for full review. This is a very portable scope. Easy to get set up and start seeing quickly. When the sky is clear with no moon and I have the time, I usually drive about 45 minutes from my house to get some darker skies. Not the best, even from there, but it beats the backyard because of all the light pollution we have.
I purchased my telescope from someone on Ebay for $600.00. It cam with a tripod and the #497Autostar which provides automatic tracking of over 10,000 objects in the sky. One could even enter the orbital elements and track the ISS. I have yet to do this, but some day.
